Whispering Forest

So about a month ago, I went on a swap-bot swap signing up spree due to boredom during winter break and a longing to receive something in the mail. It was kind of ridiculous because I was swamped with tons of swaps to send out when I arrived back at school and when things were getting hectic due to a new semester. But somehow, through all of the hectic days at my new part time job at my school's gazebo, writing essays, studying, and juggling a full time student schedule, I've managed to send all of the swaps I signed out for out! Here's the most recent one I've sent out.

(I also finally got a hold of a decent camera to photograph the things I receive and send out in the mail!)

One of the swaps I signed up for was a Welcome To Night Vale craft swap. We were given a month to make a WTNV themed craft item. I made a zine and a Night Vale Community Radio intern name tag patch with my partner's name.

The cover of the zine was cut out from an old blueberry cereal bar box and had a vintage photo slide of a blurry forest from the late 60's on it.

The theme of the zine was "The Whispering Forest" from episode 22 of WTNV.

It was an accordion style zine with 15 pages. I drew most of the images with a dip pen/paintbrush and ink and made some images on photoshop. I also used various black and white photos of forests. It was really fun to make! It made me really comfortable using a dip pen for all of the text. I love using white ink against a dark background.

I wrapped the zine up with baker's twine along with the handmade patch!

I think this was the fastest I've ever made a zine. But I was actually proud of the outcome too! I think I'll make a couple extra copies of this zine and send it to my fellow WTNV fan penpals.

Hope you liked looking at pretty pictures :) Do you have a favorite WTNV episode?
