a tiny envelope, a tiny letter, and a tiny thought

I have been feeling really small lately. Doing regular tasks like getting up in the morning, going to class, and feeding myself all seem so tough for some reason. All I want to do anymore is return into my cocoon of blankets and pillows and never emerge until I feel comfortable with myself. This past year has been a battle that has chipped away my confidence to rock bottom. And it's hard, trying to find a will to do something when I am not even sure what my identity is anymore. But in the midst of the haunting anxiety and tired nights, creating something with my hands seems to bring a moment of lucid clairvoyance.

The other day I felt small again.
so, so, so small.

So I wrote how small I felt in a tiny corner of paper, folded it up, made an equally small envelope, and stuck that inside the envelope.

Wonderful Mail

Over spring break, I received a wonderful parcel from Miranda (The Love Parcel). I remember sending her a parcel about a year ago but mostly forget the details of what I sent her. She messaged me over tumblr about her working on my parcel and that it would take a while for her to send a reply. I didn't mind and had stashed that in the back of my mind. But I finally received an email from Miranda a couple days before spring break of her sending a parcel to me!

The parcel was wrapped in a cute paper bag with an adorable label tied with string

There was a total of 4 different parts that made up the parcel

the first part that I opened was this dainty parcel that was tied with a wooden heart and string! (So clever! I will try to incorporate buttons and strings into my snail mailing too!)

Inside was a little keeper that had a vintage receipt, some tickets, and a leaf!

the keeper had a plethora of ephemera that had me squealing in excitement! One of the many favorites from the pile of ephemera was the Choo Choo cat sticker! I've been keeping my eye out for Jetoy products and lo and behold! I get send a Jetoy sticker! I happily stuck the sticker onto my 3DS and get all smiley whenever I see it now.

So much ephemera!

This quote made me feel like galaxies were swirling inside me.

The green envelope had this cool bracelet in it!

The other envelope had a very mind-tickling letter and a copy of the first zine that Miranda had made.

This was one of my favorite pages from the zine. Can't wait to talk to these lil fellas soon.

After receiving one of the best parcels through snail mail, I had to immediately send one back to Miranda.

The letters I exchanged with Miranda focused on the theme of travel so I wanted to send her a positive film slide of the expansive sky. You can see more photos of what I sent Miranda at her tumblr! She photographed every aspect of my parcel and made them look a lot more amazing!

Thanks for reading!

Spring Cleaning: Catch Up Pt.2

So over my month long hiatus, I accumulated a bunch of really awesome mail. It was really wonderful because a lot of my non-regular penpals sent me letters and that's always a nice surprise. Recently, I've been storing all of the snail mail I get into an accordion folder so that I won't lose them (and mostly because there is hardly any more room in my small dorm deskspace). But the downside to doing that is that I tend to forget what the letters said. I think I should tape some of the letters I get on my desk space so that it can inspire me when I'm feeling down. Anyway, here's some of the letters I received!

These two letters arrived in my mailbox covered in gorgeous stamps!

the honey bee and the gourd stamps were my favorite ^^

the first letter was from Sarah in Bangladesh and it was from a member of the Postal Society who I sent a "Get to Know Me" zine back in the autumn of last year. This was really exciting because it was my first letter from Bangladesh! Sarah sent me her version of the get to know me zine, some tea, and a note.

The next letter was from a swap-bot valentines day card swap from russia! The sender sent me a nice valentines day card. But the stamps decorating the envelope was my favorite part of this snail mail piece.
